Project Next Mile endeavours to build health communities and foster gender equity through sports based programming in partnership with grass roots community sports organizations. In addition to the clinical capacity building initiatives of the 2019 St. Lucia mission, the Project Next Mile community team, consisting of 5 female soccer coaches provided a 5 day female soccer development program. The Project next Mile team raised and provided approximately $30,000 worth of soccer gear to support women and girls development. The female soccer development program was administered in partnership with local coaches and provided 100 girls the opportunity to learn about sport, teamwork, leadership, and community. Additionally, the Project Next Mile Community team delivered a coach mentorship program to build coaching capacity to better serve women and girls in soccer across the country.
